Streaming audiences continue to grow among homebound pandemic viewers, but has OTT ad tech met the moment and enabled the platform to reach its optimal monetization potential? A panel of executive experts from major news organizations will grade its performance at TVNewsCheck’s OTT News Summit.

The panel, Ad Tech Pandemic Report Card, will feature Chris Garcia, VP, ad ops at CBS Local Digital; Tony Katsur, SVP digital strategy and corporate development at Nexstar Media Group; and Blake Sabatinelli, CEO of Newsy. The panel, which will be moderated by Michael Senzon, SVP and GM of Local Now, will be at 1 p.m. ET on Sept. 24.

“OTT’s ad tech is the critical tool to unlock its ability to be a viable monetization stream for news organizations,” said TVNewsCheck Editor Michael Depp. “Whether technology like dynamic ad insertion has delivered on its promise, especially as pandemic streaming demand has grown, is a critical question. Chris, Tony, Blake and Michael are extremely close to the latest developments in its performance and can pinpoint the most important areas in which it must improve.”

TVNewsCheck’s virtualized edition of its second annual OTT News Summit will run Sept. 22-25, engaging the pandemic’s impact on the streaming value chain and how news organizations can take advantage of new opportunities in content, technology and monetization.

Attendees will participate in the live, daily, two-and-a-half-hour streamed sessions on Zoom Webinar, where they can pose questions to speakers, participate in live audience polling and wrap up the day with half-hour, open-mic roundtables on key issues.

Before, during and after the conference, attendees may also network, submit suggested questions for speakers, chat about issues, browse virtual exhibits and set appointments with sponsors by downloading the TVNewsCheck Events app from the Apple or Android stores. App users who have registered for the OTT News Summit also have the option of watching the programming’s live stream on the app.

Panels will include Pandemic, Protests: Programming OTT in a Remarkable Year; Election 2020: OTT’s Programming Opportunities; More Viewers, More Paths To Discovery; Creating Frictionless OTT Workflows; and Monetizing OTT: New Opportunities in a Changed World. Jean Ellen Cowgill, GM of Bloomberg QuickTake, will open the summit in a keynote interview. Christy Tanner, EVP and GM, CBS Interactive, will be the subject of the closing keynote interview.
